Classical Initial Conditions for Nucleus-Nucleus Collisions
We present the results of an analytical calculation of the distribution of gluons in the state immediately following a heavy ion collision in the quasi–classical limit of QCD given by McLerran–Venugopalan model. We show that the typical transverse energy ET of the produced gluons is of the order of the saturation scale of the nuclei Qs, as predicted by Mueller. We demonstrate that due to multip...
متن کاملClassical initial conditions in high energy nucleus-nucleus collisions
An iterative proceedure is proposed to compute the classical gauge field produced in the collision of two heavy nuclei at high energy. The leading order is obtained by linearizing the Yang-Mills equations in the light-cone gauge, and provides a simple formula for gluon production in nucleusnucleus collisions. At this order kt−factorization breaks down.
متن کاملHydrodynamics of Nuclear Collisions with Initial Conditions from Perturbative Qcd
We compute the longitudinal hydrodynamic flow in ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions at √ s = 5500 GeV by using boost non-invariant initial conditions following from perturbative QCD. The transfer of entropy and energy from the central region to larger rapidities caused by boost non-invariance is determined and the associated decrease in the lifetime of the system is estimated. kari.eskola@c...
متن کاملInitial conditions of closed classical orbits from quantum spectra.
A method is presented for determining the initial conditions of classical orbits from the quantum spectra of the diamagnetic hydrogen atom. Each classical trajectory which is closed at the nucleus produces a sinusoidal fluctuation in the photoabsorption spectrum. The amplitude of each orbit's contribution appears in the Fourier transform of a spectrum computed at constant scaled energy. For a g...
متن کاملInitial conditions for inflation
Free scalar fields in de Sitter space have a one-parameter family of states invariant under the de Sitter group, including the standard thermal vacuum. We show that, except for the thermal vacuum, these states are unphysical when gravitational interactions are included. We apply these observations to the quantum state of the inflaton, and find that at best, dramatic fine tuning is required for ...
